I’m in the process of transferring my blog from Blogger to WordPress but today on the 23rd of May 2017 I woke up at my usual 5am and started to read the news I discovered that there was a terrorist attack in Manchester at around 10:30 the previous evening at an Ariana Grande concert. I’m sure many people will post about this specific subject but I want to just make a statement clear…
NOT ALL MUSLIMS ARE TERROISTS!
Muslims are not to be confused with terrorists such like Christians are not to confused with the KKK. Normally my style of writing has formerly been light hearted and the more positive side of myself, however, there is a need for people to be educated!
Those who state that all Muslims need to be killed are sparse and incompetent to a community, I am all for saying your opinion but when it depicts a religion or minority I do believe those opinions should be kept to yourself. Until recently to me, politics and religion was a taboo subject that was to be kept to myself, my personal opinions and my personal views on religious or political matters were never heard by anyone, not my friends, my boyfriend, my school or even my family.
But what I do not understand is, why do people need to go to extreme lengths? Killing 22 people, one being only 8 years old, is unacceptable no matter your age, height, race or religion. The pigment of your skin or the religion you believe in does not mean you can be entitled to kill those who are innocent and may not even begin to understand the religion you are standing for.
I understand that there is a reason for everything yet no words can explain the devastation that occurred in Manchester on the 22nd, no words can explain 9/11, no words can explain the 7/7 bombings, no words can explain Lee Rigby’s murder (22/05/13 4 years before the Manchester attack), no words can explain terrorism…
You can use as many words as you like to describe these devastating attacks but none will do the families of those lost justice, just saying that an act is horrific feels no enough, I know a post like this is to describe how horrific an action like this is but I still feel helpless, I still cannot imagine how those families feel right this second of losing their children, their brothers, sisters, extended family.
The thing that upsets me most is, A) there is nothing we can do, terrorism will always happen no matter how much we try and prevent it. B) the acts are on random people, generally the attack is on a busy area where anyone can be at any time such as recently as Westminster or previously Boston, these attacks are on innocent people who deserve to live, deserve to live the life they were given. But lastly C) the fact that these murders are out of cold blood, with no guilt, no chance for mercy, no chance for those affected to get away, no chance for them to say goodbye…
I know this post isn’t uplifting or positive (especially as a first post) but I feel like this should be stated and people need to stay strong and prove me wrong and that TERRORISM CAN BE STOPPED! But for now, we share our thoughts, the photos of those lost and the memories that people had with those who lost their lives. I feel so proud of the social media community on helping share those aspects of their lives and sharing phone numbers and addresses of where people were allowed to stay in hotels to get away from the outside and stay safe, this allowed many people who were missing from their families to be found!!
Best wishes and stay safe,
